Teak Shield by Kingsley Bate

$82.00

Teak furniture requires little, if any, maintenance and can be left outdoors year-round to weather naturally. While the rate of weathering varies depending on climate, moisture and exposure to the sun, your furniture will eventually acquire a beautiful silver-gray patina as the surface oil begins to evaporate.
If you prefer to keep your new teak furniture the original golden color, we recommend you use Kingsley Bate Teak Protector. This teak care product will maintain the golden color for a season and can be reapplied as needed. You should wait a few months before applying this teak protector to newly purchased furniture, making certain it is clean and dry before beginning. We suggest that you try it on a small area of your furniture first, such as the back of a leg or the underside of a chair, and apply the protector sparingly — one very thin coat is usually sufficient. Follow the instructions carefully. (We will not be responsible if you apply the product to your furniture and are not satisfied, or if instructions on the label are not properly followed.) This one liter bottle of Kingsley Bate Teak Protector is enough for several pieces of furniture: typically four dining chairs and one four seater table.

If your furniture has already weathered and you wish to remove the silver-gray patina, we recommend using Kingsley Bate Teak Cleaner first. The cleaner will restore the furniture to a natural golden color regardless of how long the piece has been outside. This product requires no heavy scrubbing or polishing and takes approximately thirty minutes per piece to apply.

We do not recommend treating outdoor teak with Teak oil, as it will not extend the life of your furniture and may lead to mildewing and discoloration. While it is common to protect indoor teak furniture with teak oil, most manufacturers of fine teak outdoor furniture strongly advise against its use when the furniture is being used outside.

Using Teak Cleaner or Teak Protector will not prolong the life of your teak — it will simply restore and help maintain the golden-honey color of teak.
