Troubled Water is an important triptych fresco by Idaho artist Heather Hansen, from her "Forces of Nature" series. This is an strikingly complex fresco representing the "simple" motif of water drops. Seen from a distance, one is struck by the purity and symmetry of the droplets of water; as you move closer, however, you are fascinated by the complexity of the layering, carving and color variation of the fresco. This fresco is not only stunning for its beauty, but deeply evocative of the troubling nature and complexity of water issues in the American West -- given how scarce a commodity water is. Executed on 3 wood panel boxes, Troubled Water measures 6'8" x 6'8" x 2".
Fresco is the technique of painting earth pigments directly onto wet lime plaster. All of Heather's frescos are finished with beeswax and/or a thin layer of shellac.
Heather Hansen is well-known in
Idaho for her beautiful frescos. She has been showing her work at The Open Room for the last five years, and her pieces can be found in private art collections around the country. Heather is also available to do commissioned artwork.
