The Tagine (also known as Tajine) pot is used in North African cuisine to slow-cook stews, and is made of two pieces: a plate-like bottom and a conical shaped lid, which circulates the heat and moisture during the long cooking period. Vapors condense on the tall, sloping interior wall of the conical lid, continuously basting the stew to intensify its flavors and keep the meats moist and tender. The bottom plate doubles as a serving dish. This Tagine is designed by Terre d'Hautaniboul, a small family-owned pottery workshop in the south of
France. All Terre pottery is handmade, hand glazed and fired twice for resistance and quality. These ceramics are dishwasher, oven, stove-top and microwave safe, and are easily cleaned (but should never be soaked or stored while still wet). The diminisions are 15" high x 3.5" deep x 13.5" round. If the color you are looking for is not in stock, we'd be happy to special-order any piece of Terre in any of the 24 different colors offered by Terre d'Hautaniboul.
