Clerestory by Meyer Wells: modern design with beautiful materials
This unique end table with storage, designed by Meyer Wells, beautifully combines organic materials with sleek geometric form. The Clerestory table is made of reclaimed rock elm with a floating steel top. The table is hollow inside, and one corner opens to reveal a hidden storage area. Measures 18" square x 22" high. This floor model is offered at a special price. The Clerestory design is also available as a coffee table, by special order, and can be ordered in many finishes. Meyer Wells builds elemental modern furniture from reclaimed urban trees. Master craftsman Seth Meyer and acclaimed designer John Wells worked together in the early stages of the rediscovered wood movement. They salvage and reclaim urban trees that are removed after storm damage or for development, which would otherwise end up as playground woodchips, incinerated, or rot in a landfill. They carefully select, mill and dry the lumber. The resulting furniture is reminiscent of George Nakashima's natural edged tables. As a matter of course, Meyer Wells uses HAP free and low-VOC finishes, but they also offer other finishes that range from water based non-ozone depleting to 100% botanical tung oil.
