Meyer Wells Axis Coffee table offers an unusual, yet versatile shape with a stunning finish
The Axis coffee table by Meyer Wells is distinguished by an elegant oval slab of reclaimed wood with a torched finish on a light structured steel base. The table is available in two standard sizes, but can also be ordered in custom dimensions. Standard sizes are small (24" x 42" x 17" high) and large (28" x 48" x 17" high). Other finishes available by special order include Wheat, Amber, Auburn, Tobacco, Chocolate, Earth, Java and Clear. Approximate lead time for special orders is 4 weeks. Meyer Wells builds elemental modern furniture from reclaimed urban trees. Master craftsman Seth Meyer and acclaimed designer John Wells worked together in the early stages of the rediscovered wood movement. They salvage and reclaim urban trees that are removed after storm damage or for development, which would otherwise end up as playground woodchips, incinerated, or rot in a landfill. They carefully select, mill and dry the lumber. The resulting furniture is reminiscent of George Nakashima's natural edged tables. As a matter of course, Meyer Wells uses HAP free and low-VOC finishes, but they also offer other finishes that range from water based non-ozone depleting to 100% botanical tung oil.
